Organized on World Environment Day – 5th June, the nationwide campaign was aimed at spreading awareness around water conservation among kids


Bangalore, 6th June 2016, 92.7 BIG FM India’s largest and No.1 radio network organized the largest painting competition for kids on 5th June, ‘World Environment Day’ at Carmel High School, Basaveshwaranagar, Bangalore. The competition served as a perfect means to enlighten the kids about water conservation, as 350 kids of up to 15 years of age from different schools participated in the drive with great enthusiasm. The event became even more exciting, as Hershey’s,India’s leading chocolate syrup brand and kids favorite cartoon channel Nickelodeon came on board as the official partners for the campaign.

The radio station with an aim to highlight the pressing issue of water shortage also attempted at breaking its own ‘Limca Book of Records’ created last year for organizing the largest painting competition. The 2-hour competition that started at 8 AM based on the theme of water conservation had the young and creative minds display their unique painting talent. The competition witnessed the kids come up with an apt painting that would reflect a perfect synergy of art highlighting the social message. The event also garnered immense support and interest from celebrities as they spoke about the relevance of ‘World Environment Day’, the need to save water and requested the kids to consciously work towards curbing the concerning issue.


The highlight of the event was a chocolate painting created out of Hershey’s chocolate and Lollipops by few kids at the venue. The event also had famous Nickelodeon cartoon characters such as Doremon and others entertaining the kids. The event concluded successfully with kids engaging in fun and delightful activities with one of them being carried out around a specially set up ‘Monginis’ stall. A certificate of participation was distributed among participants.

Considering the magnitude and reach of the campaign, we are happy to help with the awareness of the cause that encourages children to be aware of their environment. It is a great initiative by BIG FM and we would look to partner with similar initiatives in future.

Speaking on the occasion 92.7 BIG FM RJ said,”92.7 BIG FM has always diligently worked towards contributing for social issues by generating awareness among citizens. Water shortage has become a critical issue across the country and needs to be dealt with by collective efforts from everyone. With this painting competition, like last year, we aimed at getting maximum participation and spread our message to each corner of the city. Also, getting Hershey’s on board as the official beverage partner has helped attract kids in large numbers, being loved for its delectable and indulging confectionaries.”
