Ramanagar Marathon on Feb 26 for awareness about Water conservation

Bangalore, Feb 23: Ramanagar District Administration  in association with Yellow and Red Foundation of Ramanagara has organised the Ramanagara Marathon 2017 on   26 February  2017 as part of “Jalaandolana”,  a campaign to drive large awareness about water conservation and efficient water management.

          Individuals and organisations from all walks of life such as Bosch India Foundation, Bidadi Industries Association, Transystem, Elliott Ebara, GAIL,  Rotary Club, Impana Hospital, BGS group and many more have joined hands to take part in this marathon.

Deputy Commissioner, Ramanagara Dr. B.R. Mamatha has appealed the citizens of the district to join hands in this mission to disseminate the message of water conservation adn efficient water management of water to each and everyone in the district.

          Ramanagara District had very less rainfall in the year 2016-17. This has pushed the district into the grips of very severe crises of water shortage. Recognising the gravity of the situation the district administration of Ramanagara has taken up Jalaandolana-an initiative to mobilise and involve the communities of people of the district to tide over this crisis. 

          As part of this mission Madhyama Jalaandolana, Krishi Jalaandolana, Mahila jalaandolana, workshops to create awareness have been conducted in which eminent resource persons such as Jalashree Aiyappa Masagi, Water resources expert Radhakrishna Bhadti and progressive farmer Lakshmegowda have anchored sessions unveiling the various dimensions of water shortage crises, harvesting and harnessing cum efficient utilisation of rain water, efficient utilisation of fresh water and re-utilisation of used water etc.,
