Ekya students display concept models and solutions on making Bengaluru healthier

Bengaluru: There were future scientists, entrepreneurs and change makers at the Ekya Design Challenge 2020 event held at Bangalore International Centre on Saturday. The event gave glimpses of thinking process of sharp minds tempered by ample awareness quotient about society and issues.

Nearly 150 teams from four Ekya Schools displayed models and ideas generated because of Design Thinking abilities being facilitated by the schools. The design challenge event attracted hundreds of parents as well as diverse of visitors. The subject of the design challenge was all encompassing ‘Making Bengaluru healthier’.

Positive energy, awareness and solutions were on display as children and adults went around the stalls set up the students to explain their projects. Smart age calls for smart response and there was a Smart Bin to collect, sort and disperse various kinds of waste in an intelligent manner. The Smart Bin team had displayed flow chart to explain their design thinking process and the working of the Bin that ultimately lead to a healthy Bengaluru.

Bengaluru is staring at water crisis and water is elixir of life. Ekya students have designed a model to recycle water and supply to slum dwellers, the neglected lot in an urban set up. The Eco Soap dispenser was another interesting concept that fits well into the idea of healthier Bengaluru.

R Ramachandran, Director (Karnataka) of National Health Mission inaugurated The Ekya Design Challenge 2020, went around the exhibits and showed keen interest in many ideas. His inputs and queries are going to encourage the students to finetune their concepts.

KC Ramamurthy, MP and Chairman of CMR Group of institutions, Sabita Ramamurthy, Chancellor of CMR University and Tristha Ramamurthy, Founder and MD of Ekya Schools went round with Ramachandran to appreciate the efforts of Ekya Schools’ students.

The design challenge is an event of Ekya schools’ students, who exhibited Design Thinking in action models and ideas on Healthier Bengaluru.
